I recently had the opportunity to revisit Joe's Surf Shack. My first time was a few months back & at the time I gave them 1 star, not because the food was not great ( its awesome ) but because their janitorial service recommended the wrong cleaning agent that left an unpleasant after smell.
That as been resolved months ago, wish I new this sooner, cause I could have been enjoying this great restaurant with such friendly staff all this time.
Run, don't walk to Joe's.
It rocks !!

One of Belmar's hidden gems! I rented a house for 4th of July weekend that happened to be right down the road from this place and kept coming back for more. It's going for that "divey" vibe but you can tell it looks very new, updated and clean. It gets pretty crowded at night. They have a lot of live bands playing and plenty of room to bust a move!
Their beer selection is fantastic and the tacos are to die for!! I tried the pork, fish and short rib tacos and would absolutely recommend any of them. I did not try the nachos but the person next to me had them and they smelled incredible. I will be coming back next time I find myself in Belmar. -

Fun place to go watch football on a Sunday or other sporting event. I love all the TVs around the bar. The only downfall for me is the fact that the seating outside the bar isn't too much. I feel like their could be mare. Overall we had a great time!

Really dig this new bar. Total beachy vibe inside and decent crowd. Amazing tacos and fair prices. Really awesome bartenders and have quality live music (usually $5 cover) on weekends covering classic rock for most part. Cool hangs!

This place is INCREDIBLE!!!
If you're looking for wings, and you don't want to wait for a seat at 10th Ave Burrito, check out the grilled (yes, grilled) wings here. The house made sauces are legit, and you can't go wrong with whichever one you choose to drench your wings in.
I was skeptical that a grilled wing wouldn't have flabby skin, but the fat on the wings had rendered down and didn't make me miss that they weren't fried.
(Of course, you can get them fried if you want but they recommend getting them grilled.)
If you can't get into Jake's in Belmar for a crab cake, this one is just as good if not better.
Light, no heavy bread filling, super fresh crabby flavor -- you can't ask for more from a crab sandwich. You can get the cake solo, but getting the sandwich means you get fries which means you have an excuse to dip something into the HELLFIRE ketchup.
This ketchup would be the only ketchup I would take with me if I were sent to an island by myself with just one condiment I could take (and that's saying a lot because I'm a huge fan of ranch).
It's not as much spicy as it is smoky or maybe even Old Bay-esque. Whatever they put in it, you need some.
Also THE BEER .. so many good local beers (beers from Cape May.. Hoboken.. etc).
If you're looking for chill vibes, interesting beer selection and bar food that is way ABOVE average bar food, swing by this place.
They have a space for bikes out front so definitely bike here if you can since parking is limited.
